The Festival Clásicos en el Parque in its 18th edition proposed a trip to the musical and vital universe of one of the great singers of recent history: Billie Holiday. The recital took place on July 24th, at 10 pm, at the Rodalquilar Vivero, a luxurious setting, under the open sky and in the heart of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.
‘Lady in Satin: the legacy of Billie Holiday’, with FIMA Symphonic Orchestra and the voice of Susana Sheiman, has brought to life to, one of the emblematic records in history of jazz. ‘Lady in Satin’ (Columbia, 1958), was the last album that the singer recorded, and the only one that she made in symphonic format.
“He did a spectacular job of transcribing all the arrangements on the record, by ear,” explained Sheiman. “It has been a wonderful job. And so, the most beautiful thing is that the arrangements are just as they are on the album.”
