The FUTURA JAZZ ORCHESTRA was born from an idea by Duccio Bertini, the director and arranger of the ensemble. The FUTURA JAZZ ORCHESTRA is composed of 16 musicians playing in the traditional sections of jazz orchestra (saxophones, trumpets, trombones and rhythm section) but also with the possibility of changing its sound by adding other instruments (such as flute, clarinets, bass clarinet, flugelhorns, vibraphone and percussions), giving the orchestra an original sound and a high capacity to perform a diverse repertoire.
The main characteristics of Futura Jazz Orchestra are its flexibility and ability to perform a heterogenic repertoire of contemporary jazz. The music of the orchestra comes from the jazz european “sound”, with such influences as Kenny Wheeler, Gil Evans and Maria Schneider. The orchestra is composed of some of the young talents of the Italian jazz scene. The works are arrangements or original compositions from the leader, Duccio Bertini, winner of many arrangement and composition competitions.
